Dover District Council
Dover District Council has recently selected Casella Training to assist them in the development of an online Health & Safety training resource.
“With the Council employing over 450 staff, our health and safety training needs are ongoing” says Amanda Britton, Dover District Council’s Human Resources Manager.
For many years, the Council has been providing their staff with a range of basic health and safety training courses, delivered in the traditional ‘face to face’ manner. Whilst the face to face sessions were effective in providing staff with relevant H&S information and hopefully reducing the likelihood of incidents occurring, it was felt that a more effective method of training could enhance the overall value of the courses.
Amanda says, “We spent time researching the market to determine what kind of e-learning packages were available for health and safety. We decided that Casella Online Training provided the best fit for our requirements.”
“Casella was able to offer the Council a fully bespoke package of modules covering Basic Principles, Fire Safety, Safe Lifting & Handling and Workstations. Making the content relevant to Council staff was a key requirement, as was the flexibility to amend and add to existing modules.”
Whilst providing general information regarding key issues of health and safety in the workplace, the online modules also provide specific details regarding the Council’s health and safety procedures. “By spending time with Dover we have been able to incorporate their specific needs covering important matters such as where to get H&S advice and how to report accidents at work, as well as recording each user’s individual level of knowledge.” says Rob Castledine, Business Director for Casella.
